Committee reports:

Research leave (Brenda Burk): Will email new guidelines to members.

By-laws (Kevin Petsche): No report; suggestions for changes need to be submitted in writing or by email to the committee.

Peer review/promotion/tenure (Jim Baldwin): Have finished annual reviews; sign-off appointments are being set up; thanked committee members for their service.  There was a general discussion about procedures for reporting.  The committee will discuss expectations about reporting time spent on service and professional development.  Basic questions about this part of the review included the purpose of reporting time (i.e. as a basis for initiating a dialog) and whether or not the statistics are actually used for anything.  Suggestions for procedural changes will be brought to the members at a future meeting.

Electronic Resources Database (Polly Boruff-Jones):  Passed out list of database resources. Mindy Cooper may be contacting people about usage statistics.  We do not get statistics on many of the databases and may contact the vendors.  Since having statistics will help with subscription decisions, please contact Polly if you are getting stats but are not listed on the worksheets. Jim Baldwin added that the Reference Resources Group might recommend cancellation of paper indexes where UL also has electronic access.  Marie Wright suggested that there was a need for a list of individuals who had research expertise in specific areas.  Reactions to this idea should be directed to her.

Meeting adjourned at 3:30 pm.
